I bought one of these a while back so I was floored when I found these four huge ones in Tucson for MUCH less than I paid for my smaller one! They're a really unusual thing to have for your collection, and not that easy to find. We're happy to pass along the reasonable pricing to you. These are from China (NOT boji stones).
This is one of four pyrite concretions, which are wonderfully nerdy stones to describe. They are basically big balls of sedimentary rock, typically shales, on which pyrite-creating minerals have precipitated, giving them their evenly patterned distribution of pyrite. From what I can tell, they form in deep ocean environments, where there is an area of oxygen-free and oxygenated conditions. Living organisms die and rot, and as they rot they produce sulphates. The dead material coalesces into hard nodules, and the sulphates get converted into sulphides by anaerobic bacteria. When there's iron around, the sufphides get converted into iron sulphides, which aerobic bacteria then oxidize into iron pyrite. This tends to happen on the surface of the nodule.
These would have all the metaphysical properties of pyrite. I'm not sure why they're called "Shaman Stones," (usually that's what boji stones are called, but these are different). There's certainly a lot of powerful metaphor involved in how they're made. They have a really solid, powerful feel in the hand.
This one is the heaviest at 744g and about 3 1/2" long by 2 1/2" tall. This one is so cool -- you can see the initial nodule at the center of the entire piece.
